That’s where Founder and CEO Rebecca Baillie found herself when baking got her out of bed. In the midst of her grief for friends and grandmother who had passed away, finding herself in a new career venture, and balancing the ups and downs of dog parenting on a budget, and the woes of uncertainty in her advocacy for the rights of marginalized groups, was an underlying and consistent rage, with nowhere to lay its head.

“You’ve got to find a creative outlet for your rage,” her therapist told her. Desperate to turn her anger into love, and to invest her emotions into something productive, she took her mixer down from the cabinet and turned on some Motown. “My Granny’s favorite music.” First, it was just to take to a friend’s house as a lovely gesture, then a birthday cake, then cupcakes. Soon, the weight of the world had lifted off of her shoulders, and a quiet peace filled her soul. 

The rage and anxiety had subsided when her creative outlet grew. Rebecca didn’t just want to give people a sugar high, but an experience. Those moments in life when we pause and take inventory of all that we are, all that we have, all those who love us.
